Being another Black Man caught up in the MIX! ( Life Ain't No Crystal Stair)

As I  reflect over the last two months of my life I can't seem to shake the feeling of broken promises mixed with missed opportunities as well as the wonderful blessings and insight I have received. Seems like a LOT huh lol. From relationships with women that I've either ended or currently pursuing to leaving one job and acquiring another subsequently leaving it, I have had a whirlwind of emotions/ In the words of the immortal Marvin Gaye " It Makes me wanna Holler."

As I often do I find solace in books and scripture and I came across one of my favorite poems by Langston Hughes " Mother to Son". This poem is an accurate portrayal of my current situation Hell my Life. Growing up in very humble beginnings in rural Alabama this poems speaks VOLUMES . My mother has worked hard her entire life and seeing her as well as my aunt doing some of the worlds most thankless jobs fuel my desire to do better But, while trying to achieve my goals I realize LIFE ain't no Crystal Stair.

Realizing that life is No Crystal stair  It’s has tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor— Bare I know choices Have to be made. I come to a crossroad, Do I sit on the step or Do I continue to climb. My choice is to continue to climb and pray that I ascend to new heights.

Lanston Hughes " Mother to Son" after the Jump

Mother to Son

                                                                By Langston Hughes
Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
It’s had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
Bare.
But all the time
I’se been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps
’Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now—
For I’se still goin’, honey,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
